Afghanistan U 16 Disqualified from 2012 AFC -U 16 Championship

Afghanistan U -16 Football team disqualified from  2012 AFC U-16 Championship for fielding an ineligible player in the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship Group B qualifiers last month.

Afghanistan, who made it to the tournament proper as the third best team from West Zone, fielded Zaiuddin Amruddin who failed the MRI test for age determination.

The committee imposed a 3-0 forfeit of their matches against Kuwait, UAE and Yemen and a US$1000 each fine on all their five group games for violating Article 25 par. C) iii) of the AFC U-16 Championship 2012 qualifiers regulations and Article 55 par. 1 and 3 of the AFC Disciplinary Code.

Afghanistan will now be replaced by Saudi Arabia in the 16-nation AFC U-16 Championship as the third best team from West Zone.

Afghanistan U 16 Qualified to AFC U 16 Championship 2012

 Afghanistan U 16 Team qualified to AFC U 16 Championship 2012. Afghanistan with one win and two draw in hand in their last three games respectively qualified for the tournament ahead of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain on different groups from West Zone.

Afghanistan U 16 Performance in 2012 AFC U 16 Championship Qualification



Afghanistan Under 16 Football Team Played in 2012 AFC U 16 Championship Qualification where they finished 3rd on group B. Started its first match with Host nation, Kuwait and drawn 1-1. Murtaza Muhammad Zaher scored first and only goal for Afghanistan at 37th Minutes of the match and Afghanistan reached last minutes on with one and only goal ahead of Kuwait while Abdullah Al Asfour of Kuwait drawn the match with first and only goal for Kuwait at 82nd Minutes in Penalty.

On Second match vs United Arab Emirates, UAE led the match with one goal until 65th Minutes while Mohammad Amin score the goal and match finish with another draw for Afghanistan and UAE as well.
 In the first two match it was not bad start but neither it could be said good start, while Afghanistan saved two match with draw in the group table.
3rd Match of the tournament favored Afghanistan while Afghanistan defeated Yemen 2-1. Mohammad Reza Rezayi and Mohammad Amin scored one goal each for Afghanistan in defeat of Yemen.

On fourth match vs Pakistan, Afghanistan lost its first match of the tournament 3-1. Players showed well effort and tried hard to go without any loss, but nothing changed the situation and Afghanistan lost to Pakistan.

One the last match of the tournament Afghanistan played very well and outstanding performance of players defeated Maldives 9-0. Qader Zaman scored 5 goals while Rezaye 2 goals and Hussain 1 goal for the victory. Against Maldives Afghanistan had the whole control of the match in second half and back to back players put the ball inside goals and it was a great finish in the group by Afghanistan. Afghanistan finished 3rd on the group table with two wins, two draws and one loss in the tournament.

Finish third on the group Afghanistan failed to qualify for the 2012 AFC U 16 Championship while Yemen and Kuwait qualified for the tournament. At the end of the tournament best third placed team from  West and East zones will also qualify for the tournament. In the Eastern zone Laos qualified as best third place finisher. Currently Afghanistan as best third placed team of Group B is placed on the top of  selection group along with Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan and Qatar. Yet number of matches left between groups D, C, and A. Best third placed team of Groups A.B.C.and D will qualify for the tournament.

Afghans preparing for SAFF Championship 2011


2011 South Asian Football Federation Championship to be held in New Delhi India on December is just         couple of months away, and we have started our preparation for SAFF Championship. Our eyes are all the way to SAFF Championship. This tournament was organized to be held in Orissa India but Indian Football       Federation changed the city for the tournament and New Delhi will host it. It will be a great opportunity for us to take on other SAFF Countries for the championship.
